So, as part of the Thirteen Reasons Why blog tour I decided to do a small post on a Reason to Live!! Super excited about this btw. 😛
My Reason To Live Is love. I know love is a really basic one, but wait a moment here as I explain myself. Love, is defined quite poorly most of the time, and I wanted to take a moment to clear up the definition, while proving love is worth living for! A lot of people misunderstand the word, for love in itself can be really deep. So let me start off by saying love in it’s general term is taken to mean attraction, romance, feelings, and a temporary joy. That love is not what I’m claiming is worth living for, while that emotion is nice, it’s not eternal.
The love I’m talking about is pure, and faithful. Everlasting. Love is selfless, and kind, untainted by evil. It is an action and a proclamation. It is pure and righteous, full of joy and peace. You might be doubting how humans, who are sinful creatures, could show such a love. Well your right to doubt, because we can’t. But just because we cannot display such a love doesn’t mean there isn’t a being greater than us who can’t. We can only try to show such a majestic love.
However, Jesus Christ came to earth to die for you, because he loves you. It says in Romans 5:7-8 “Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone would perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” (NLT) If that’s not real love then you tell me what is.
If God loves you so much he asked His Son to die–weeping over the agony that engulfed Him in His Son’s death. I’m absolutely certain that for such love it’s worth living. Aren’t you?
